About Slayaway Camp
Slayaway Camp is a darkly comedic game that serves as a bloody homage to 1980s slasher horror films. Developed by Blue Wizard Digital, it features adorable voxel-based graphics where you control a psychotic killer, often named Skullface, who slides around isometric levels to gruesomely eliminate hapless victims like camp counselors.
The premise draws from classic horror tropes: In 1983, a camp prank at Slayaway Camp, built on an ancient burial site—goes horribly wrong, leading to the rise of the disfigured Skullface a year later. As the killer, you rampage through “movies” (chapters) filled with smart-mouthed, substance-abusing teens, spoofing films like Friday the 13th. The story unfolds across multiple sequels within the game, including space-themed spin-offs and demonic encounters, with over 200 puzzles in total.
How to play
Controls
- Movement: Use directional inputs (arrow keys or swipe on mobile) to slide your killer in straight lines: up, down, left, or right. The character keeps sliding until they hit an obstacle, victim, or edge.
- Undo/Reset: Most versions allow undoing moves or restarting the level if you get stuck.
- View Rotation: Rotate the camera for better visibility in some levels.
- Menus: Access options to buy unlocks, enter codes for new killers, or play minigames for extra coins.
Gameplay
- Direct Kills: Slide directly into a victim to slaughter them. Approach cops or SWAT from the side or behind, as they can spot you from the front and end the level.
- Scaring Victims: Move adjacent to a victim to scare them, causing them to panic and run in the opposite direction—potentially into deadly hazards like fire pits, water, holes, landmines, or electric fences.
- Environmental Interactions: Push objects (e.g., fridges, outhouses) onto victims for squashing kills. Toggle switches to turn off lights and enable dark kills, or use other level-specific elements like knocking over items
