About Fear The Spotlight
Fear the Spotlight is an indie horror adventure game developed by Cozy Game Pals, a small team consisting of developers Crista Castro and Bryan Singh, and published by Blumhouse Games as their first title. The game draws inspiration from classic 1990s horror titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, featuring a retro PS1-style aesthetic with blocky, low-poly graphics, VHS filter effects, and atmospheric sound design that emphasizes tension through silence and subtle audio cues rather than jump scares.
The narrative centers on two high school friends, Vivian and Amy, who sneak into their abandoned school, Sunnyside High, one night to perform a seance using a spirit board in the library. What starts as a playful exploration of the occult quickly turns into a nightmare as supernatural forces are unleashed, tied to a tragic past event—a devastating fire that claimed many lives at the school.
How to play
Fear the Spotlight is a third-person horror adventure game focused on exploration, puzzle-solving, and stealth-based evasion rather than combat. There are no weapons; instead, survival depends on wits, careful planning, and avoiding detection by enemies like the “Spotlight Head” creature, a monstrous entity with a bright light for a head that patrols areas and leaves trails of fire.
