About There is no game
There Is No Game is a adventure game title developed by French indie creator Pascal Cammisotto (under the alias KaMiZoTo). Released in 2015 as an entry in the Newgrounds Construct Jam competition, it won the “deception” category for its innovative twist on the genre. The core concept revolves around an unreliable narrator who insists repeatedly and emphatically that there is no game to play, no story to follow, and nothing for you to do.
How to play There Is No Game
The game doesn’t follow any of the usual rules of a video game. Instead of providing clear instructions, the game requires you to interact with everything on the screen to explore and progress. The narrator will try to convince you that there is no game, but by exploring and experimenting, you will unlock many things.
I will give some hints in advance to keep the surprise, if you get stuck check out the online guide. The game is divided into “chapters” separated by black screens and narrator narration.
- Title screen: Click the ‘O’ in “No” about 10 times until it shakes loose. Drag letters to form “GAME.”
- Black screen: Click the speaker icon to mute/unmute repeatedly. Shake the screen by dragging the volume slider wildly.
If you hit a wall, remember: the game wants you to feel like there’s no progress. Persist, and you’ll uncover its heart.
