About Google Minesweeper
Google Minesweeper is a classic single-player puzzle game where the objective is to clear a grid of hidden “mines” without detonating any of them. This version provided by Google is simple, visually appealing, and requires no downloads. It’s a modern take on the game originally popularized by Microsoft in the 1990s, featuring a grid of tiles, some of which hide mines, and others that reveal numbers or safe spaces. The version includes three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Hard, each with a different grid size and number of mines.
How to play Google Minesweeper
Google Minesweeper offers three main difficulty levels:
- Easy: 8×10 grid, containing 10 mines.
- Medium: 18×14 grid, containing 35 mines.
- Hard: 24×20 grid, containing 99 mines.
- Objective: Open all the squares on the board that do not contain mines. If you open a square containing a mine, you lose the game.
- Left-click to open a square to see what is inside (it can be a number, an empty square, or a mine).
- Right-click to mark a suspected mine with a flag. Right-click again to remove the flag.
- When you open a square, if it does not contain a mine, a number will appear. This number indicates the number of mines in the 8 adjacent squares around that square (including the squares above, below, left, right, and diagonal).
- Placing flags will mark the mined squares to help you keep track and avoid confusion. The number of flags placed will correspond to the number of mines left on the board (shown in the upper corner of the screen).
- You win when you open all the squares that do not contain mines. If you make a mistake and open a square with a mine, the game is over.
