About Hotel Manager
Hotel Manager is a digital adaptation of classic hotel-building board games like the original “Hotel” (later rebranded as Hotel Tycoon), where players act as real estate tycoons competing to construct luxurious hotels, acquire properties, and bankrupt their opponents through high rental fees.
This Monopoly-inspired game emphasizes strategy, luck with dice rolls, and shrewd investments in properties and upgrades. It’s designed for 2-6 players and can be played online against AI, friends, or global opponents. The goal is to become the last remaining player by accumulating wealth and forcing others into bankruptcy through hotel stays and strategic expansions.
How to play
Rolling and Moving:
- Click or tap to roll the die
- Move your token forward the rolled number of spaces. Tokens can’t share spaces, if you land on an occupied one, advance to the next free space.
- Rolling a 6 often grants an extra turn.
Landing on Spaces
- Buying/Property Spaces: If unoccupied, buy the adjacent hotel property by paying the bank the listed cost. You get the title deed. Only one purchase per turn. If owned but undeveloped, you can force-buy it at a discount.
- Opponent’s Hotel: Pay rent based on the hotel’s level (e.g., star rating) and a die roll for “nights stayed.” Upgrades and facilities increase fees. High/low season spaces modify these costs.
- Your Own Hotel: Upgrade it (or another you own) by adding buildings, entrances, or facilities to boost future rents.
- Planning Permission/Build Spaces: Announce what you want to build (must follow sequence: land → main building → extensions → facilities). Roll a special die (if applicable) for approval: green for yes, red for no, etc. Pay costs if approved.
- City Hall/Entrance Spaces: Add entrances to your hotels to “capture” bordering spaces and start charging rent. Can’t face another entrance.
- Bank Pass: Collect salary (e.g., 2,000) each lap around the board (may stop in late game).
- Card/Event Spaces: Draw a card for bonuses (e.g., free builds) or penalties (e.g., extra payments).
- Free Build/Entrance Spaces: Gain a free upgrade or entrance.
Building and Upgrading
- Develop in phases: Buy land, get permission, add main building, extensions, entrances, then leisure facilities.
- Each upgrade increases your hotel’s star rating and rental fees.
- Facilities can be added to completed hotels without permission.
Auctions and Bankruptcy
- If you can’t pay a fee or build cost, auction off your properties (as full lots) to other players. No minimum bid.
- If unsold, the property resets and becomes available again.
- If you have no assets left, you’re bankrupt and out. Last player standing wins!
