About Doodle Champion Island Games
Doodle Champion Island Games is a game developed by Google to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, while also celebrating Japanese culture and folklore. In the game, you will play as Lucky the cat exploring Champion Island, participating in sports through attractive mini-games and completing side quests to collect sacred scrolls and unique titles.
The game includes 7 main sports: Table Tennis, Skateboarding, Archery, Rugby, Synchronized Swimming, Climbing and Marathon. In addition, there are many side quests hidden on the island, providing a rich and culturally rich adventure experience in Japan with characters inspired by folklore such as Tengu, Tanuki, or Princess Otohime.
How to play Doodle Champion Island Games
Controls
- Movement: Use the W.A.S.D keys or arrow keys to control Lucky to move around the map.
- Interaction: Press the Space key to talk to NPCs, activate mini-games or perform actions.
Choose a Team
After passing the first mini-game (usually a ping-pong match with 2 Komainu), you will be asked to choose one of four teams. Each team is represented by a color and a mythical animal:
- Red Team (Ushi – Buffalo): Symbolizes strength and determination.
- Blue Team (Kappa – River God): Known for its agility and intelligence.
- Yellow Team (Kitsune – Fox): Represents cunning and strategy.
- Green Team (Tengu – Heavenly Dog): Symbolizes perseverance and foresight.
Explore the island and play minigames
The island is divided into different areas, each home to a champion.
- Table Tennis
- Champion: Tengu
- How to play: Use the arrow keys to move, Space or left mouse to hit the opponent’s ball.
- Skateboarding
- Champion: Tanuki
- How to play: In the skateboarding area, use the arrow keys to move and balance. Press the space bar to jump and perform tricks in the air. Combine the arrow keys while in the air to create beautiful combos and score high.
- Archery
- Champion: Yoichi
- How to play: Use the arrow keys to move. Space to shoot. The target will move and can be blocked by obstacles.
- Rugby
- Champion: Oni
- How to play: This is a team sport. Use the arrow keys to move the player holding the ball. Press Space to pass the ball to the nearest teammate. The goal is to get past the Oni defense and get the ball to the end line.
- Synchronized Swimming
- Champion: Princess Otohime
- How to play: A challenging rhythm game. When the arrow icons move to the center circle, press the corresponding arrow key. Perform the movements accurately to create a perfect performance underwater.
- Climbing
- Champion: Fukuro
- How to play: Use the arrow keys to move Lucky up the cliff. Press the Space key to jump over the gaps.
- Marathon
- Champion: Kijimuna
- How to play: Use the arrow keys to move Lucky, avoiding obstacles such as crabs and rocks. Press the Space key to jump over the holes.
In addition to the 7 main sports, the game also has many side quests and secrets waiting for you to discover. Be active in talking to the islanders, they can ask you for help with tasks such as finding lost items or delivering packages. Completing these quests will not only help you learn more about the game world, but also unlock more difficult versions of the sports and receive prestigious trophies.
