About Retro Highway
Retro Highway is a nostalgic pixel-art motorcycle stunt game developed by NicolaiGD and published by Gearhead Games. Released initially for mobile devices in 2018, it has since been ported to consoles like Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation, as well as PC. The game draws inspiration from classic arcade titles like Enduro, Road Rash, and Chase HQ, blending old-school 8-bit/16-bit aesthetics—complete with pixelated graphics, neon colors, synthwave chiptune music, and high-speed action—with modern accessibility.
How to play
Controls
- Steering: Tilt your device (mobile) or use touch arrows/swipes to move left/right. On PC, use the left/right arrow keys or A/D.
- Boost/Nitro: Tap or hold a button (e.g., spacebar on PC, a dedicated button on consoles) to activate a temporary speed boost for dodging or aligning jumps.
- The bike accelerates automatically, no need to hold a gas button.
Ride endlessly forward, avoiding crashes by dodging oncoming traffic, obstacles, and environmental hazards. Aim for high scores based on distance traveled, coins collected. Grab coins scattered on the road. Earn extra for “near misses” (brushing close to vehicles without crashing) and stunts like flips or rolls after jumps. Power-ups like speed boosts or coin magnets appear occasionally
